For more than twenty years, Shree Muktananda Ashram, in the Catskill Mountains of New York, has provided thousands of seekers with the ideal environment for spiritual renewal.

Shree Muktananda Ashram was inspired by Swami Muktananda's own experience of ashrams in India. Ashrams are places where seekers traditionally have gathered in rural settings to pursue the study of yoga, meditation, and knowledge of the Self.

Every corner of Shree Muktananda ashram exists to support the spiritual practice of retreat. Here there is a special vibrancy: the grounds, the buildings, even the paths through the woods exude a loving and tranquil energy.

There are numerous areas on the ashram grounds devoted to spiritual practices, such as meditation and chanting caves, silent study areas, and hatha yoga facilities. The natural beauty and stillness of Lake Nityananda and the Silent Path enhance our contemplative walks.

The ashram also houses the temple of Baba Muktananda's Guru, Bhagawan Nityananda; the Temple is both an abode of blessing and a sacred space for prayer and meditation.

Shree Muktananda Ashram provides a supportive setting for an extended immersion in ashram life, as well as a tranquil place for short, focused spiritual retreat. Shree Muktananda Ashram also houses the headquarters of the SYDA Foundation and many of its activities and offerings.
